The Moldau (Vltava), composed by Bedrich Smetana, is a symphonic poem that forms part of a collection called Má vlast (My Homeland). This collection is a patriotic reflection of Czech lands, folklore, and history.

The piece was composed in 1874 and first performed the following year, with the title Vltava named after the famous river that runs through Prague. The inspiration came from Smetana's love for his homeland - the Czech Republic.
