A Piano Solo version allows one pianist to play the full piece on their own. It’s the most common format for solo performances. An Accompaniment is designed to support a singer or another instrument. It typically doesn’t include the main melody, focusing instead on chords and rhythm to provide a musical foundation. A Leadsheet shows the melody line and chord symbols, but no full arrangement. It’s ideal for improvising, playing with a band, or creating your own interpretation. 4 Hands refers to an arrangement written for two pianists playing together on one piano. It’s a fun and collaborative format, often used for duets or teaching purposes.
Each arrangement on OKTAV is labeled with a difficulty rating from 1 to 100. This helps you see whether a piece is suited to your current skill level. If you're just starting out or getting back into playing, look for lower numbers. More advanced players can explore higher-rated pieces for a greater challenge.
The level number always refers to the first instrument listed in the arrangement. So if you see something like “Piano & Voice”, the difficulty rating is based on the piano part. This helps you know what to expect for your own instrument right away.
