The first collection of graded French song sheet music, CrocK’MusiC offers a clear progression from level 1 to 9, designed by piano teachers. The works, drawn primarily from the French chanson repertoire, immediately resonate with students: they build on familiar melodies, stimulate listening, facilitate sight-reading and recreate a direct connection with the instrument.

Technique ceases to be an obstacle and becomes a springboard; CrocK’MusiC is not an alternative to the traditional repertoire, it is a parallel path that leads back to it naturally.

The piano transcription by Pierre Lafitte of this colourful satire has been adapted here to strike a perfect balance between the dynamism of Brassens’ guitar and a structured pianistic writing, ideal for the middle of the first cycle. A flagship song of Brassens’ repertoire, "Le Gorille" is distinguished by its provocative text and its driving march rhythm.
